A solar sales rep portal for PowerSmith Energy

PowerSmith Energy is a veteran-owned solar company in San Diego covering residential and commercial solar, battery storage and EV charging. Since July 2026 I have worked with them as a contract AI full-stack developer, building their marketing site and the operations portal their sales team uses.

What the sales team needed

A solar sales team runs on a few shared facts: who brought in a lead, where it sits in the pipeline, and what each rep is owed. When those live in separate spreadsheets and a CRM, it is hard for reps and the office to be sure they are looking at the same numbers. The goal was one portal where reps, team leads, admins and outside referral partners each see what they need, with the CRM kept in sync.

The portal

The marketing site is React 18 on Vite; the API is FastAPI with MongoDB, hosted on Railway. The Rep / Team / Admin portal spans 15 screens, and internal reps and external affiliates sign in with separate bcrypt + JWT token scopes, so the two groups never share access. Around the core screens sit the tools a sales team uses day to day:

Referral program and commission engine

Partners sign themselves up, get their own referral links and follow their referrals on live dashboards. Every referral carries both the partner and the rep, and the pipeline mirrors into GoHighLevel through webhooks. On the money side, the commission engine imports rep commission workbooks on the server, derives payouts from pipeline stage on configurable bands, and generates PDF commission statements server-side, so reps and the office hold the same document.

AI tooling, and the portal as a product

Content tooling built on the Anthropic SDK with structured outputs generates blog posts and social artwork, with media stored on Cloudflare R2 and transactional email sent through Resend. The portal is now also offered by Charyx Labs as a productized Ops Portal for sales teams of 10–80 reps in solar, roofing, insurance and real-estate brokerages.

Frequently asked questions

Can this portal work for a non-solar sales team?

Yes. Charyx Labs offers it as a productized Ops Portal for sales teams of 10–80 reps, including roofing, insurance and real-estate brokerages. Commission bands are already configurable, and the rest is adapted to your team during scoping.

Does the portal integrate with GoHighLevel?

Yes. The referral pipeline mirrors into GoHighLevel through webhooks, and every referral carries both the partner and the rep. I also build GoHighLevel pipelines, workflows and A2P 10DLC setups, so the CRM side can be handled by the same developer.

How are rep commissions calculated?

Rep commission workbooks are imported server-side. Payouts are derived from each deal’s pipeline stage using configurable bands, and the server generates a PDF commission statement so the rep and the office hold an identical document.
